Carolyn Stark has been the organizer for monthly meetings of UCUCC members and friends at Horizon House for some time. They stopped when we were quarantined to our rooms. At that point, Annemarie Godston offered to arrange for Zoom meetings. To date, 15 UCUCCers who live at Horizon House have used Zoom to keep connected and remind ourselves what each other looks and sounds like. At our first gathering, people shared what they learned about themselves during this quarantine. Many expressed their frustration with not being able to get out, walk, and enjoy the Spring blossoms.
It was a natural to share what it has meant to each person to have the freedom to go for short walks just two weeks later, after some restrictions were lifted. We learned interesting plants to notice and some alternative routes to explore without putting ourselves in jeopardy of infection.
And news just in the past week…Horizon House is elated to report that we have no active COVID-19 cases in our community. The residents who tested positive have recovered and have now tested negative. The remaining positive staff members continue to recover at home.
