Oct 18, 19, 20 Men’s Weekend
Pilgrim Firs on the Kitsap Peninsula, near Port Townsend
Save the date and let anyone you know who might be interested attending this unique annual event.
This year’s speaker is the Reverend Michael Dowd.
Michael Dowd is an American Progressive Christian minister, author, and eco-theologian known as an advocate of Big History, religious naturalism, sustainability, climate activism, and the epic of evolution.
In a dynamic presentation that bridges head and heart and celebrates the convergence of science, inspiration, and sustainability, Rev. Michael Dowd explores the questions such as:
- How does reclaiming the evolutionary purpose of religion and the religious necessity of science reveal the way home for our prodigal species?
- How do mythic concepts such as “sin,” “salvation,” and “the second coming of Christ” become vital for our time when viewed ecologically and evolutionarily?
- How might Christianity be interpreted as universally true — that is, true for all people, at all times, in all cultures — while also honoring the wisdom of other traditions?
Our weekend starts Friday evening, Saturday morning we all meet, the rest of the day is free. Sunday we have worship, cleanup, and leave before lunch.
Cost is $140, seniors $125 — partial scholarships available. Saturday-only attendance is an option. Contact Jack Sukalac 206-783-3149, moc.nsm@253mbj or Earl Hamilton 206-363-4940 moc.liamg@notlimahwlrae for more information, or sign up in the Narthex on Sundays.
