Would it surprise you to hear that not many years ago, some high school English teachers were told to assign books that featured male heroes, so boys would be encouraged to actually read books?
It’s hard to imagine that this practice would be carried forward today, and yet, we still live in a culture that tends to value the masculine more than the feminine.
If we are to realize the full truth and potency of the Christian tradition, attempts to update the gender language in our favorite old hymns, prayer language, and sermon content are necessary but insufficient. We need uplift and integrate a deeper understanding and appreciation of the feminine principle.
Our bridge pastor, Todd Smiedendorf and his wife Allison Conte, will lead our upcoming Senior Retreat in a series of discussions and interactive conversations about how we, in this time of the evolving church, need to incorporate the Divine Feminine in a way that creates wholeness, a “sacred union” of Divine Feminine with Divine Masculine.
By the way, what is “Divine Feminine” anyway?
If you are 55 and older, come to the Senior Retreat, where we will demystify what this esoteric term means.
Join us Monday morning, September 30 through Tuesday afternoon, October 1, at the beautiful Rainbow Lodge just outside of North Bend. All meals are included; we can accommodate nearly any food preference or dietary consideration. Come enjoy stimulating conversations with plenty of time to hang out with old and new friends, and enjoy the beautiful setting we will temporarily inhabit.
Watch for an upcoming mailing, and opportunities to sign up for what promises to be an intriguing experience.
