~Betty Spieth-Croll, Worship and Music Committee
Even as we express our heartful thanks to Heidi Wyllis Blythe for her devoted service as our Music Director, our attention turns to filling the opening Heidi’s departure leaves. Earlier this year when we received the news from Heidi of her departure, none of us could have foreseen the circumstances under which we would be saying goodbye and beginning a search process. Goodbyes are virtual and the search will be for an interim director. Life is upside down, services are being reinvented, and we have no idea when we’ll be able to gather together again in worship and song. But one thing remains constant – music is at the heart of our faith community!
The Worship and Music Committee is assisting in the search process to find the right person who will take us through this fragile and creative time, building upon all that Heidi and her predecessors brought forward, and showing us the way ahead. A search team made up of representatives from the choir, Liturgical Arts, Personnel, Worship and Music and other members with both musical and non-musical backgrounds is being assembled and expects to recommend a candidate by mid-summer. Heidi leaves us a music program already in place into the fall, so this timeline should work well.
