There are two updates to share, one about Children’s Ministry and one about the ongoing work of the Staffing Proposal Committee which is focused on
the Leadership team (clergy staff).
Our vibrant Children’s Ministry will be looking for a new Director. Betsy Herring will be stepping down
at the end of April after fulfilling her two-year commitment. UCUCC will be seeking a new Director as soon as possible to overlap time with Betsy for training purposes. Please spread the word to anyone in your networks who might have interest. A job posting is in the works.
Secondly, the important work of the Futures Task Force guided us to seek some changes in the structure of the Leadership Team. A Staffing Proposal Committee (SPC) was charged by the Church Council in November to bring a proposal, building on the 2019 Futures Task Force report’s recommendations. That proposal will likely include more differentiated portfolios of the three clergy positions, clarified roles and relationships of the Leadership Parish Relations Committee (LPRC), the Personnel Committee, and Church Council, and required implicit bias training for all leadership mentioned here. The SPC is expected to conclude their work and bring a proposal forward in February.
