Camp Second Chance residents are hosting an open house on Sunday, March 17 1pm -4pm, at 9701 Myers Way South, in West Seattle.
This is one of Seattle’s sanctioned encampments for folks living with homelessness. Enjoy food, art, and conversation. Tour their tiny house factory. Hear how they organize their community & support their neighborhood. Celebrate the ways they provide support and stability for each other as they seek permanent housing. The camp currently need to be re-approved to stay at this location. This open house is a chance for the rest of us to experience what makes this community such an amazing success….and to add our voice to the calls for their re-authorization.
Camp residents are members of Spirit Workshops, so we are excited to support their celebration.
We’ve replaced our originally planned event with this timely gathering. Come and join us! Please bring cookies and snacks to share or books to donate to the camp’s little library…or just come as you are. If you need a ride from the University District let us know: carpools will be forming. Send an email to gro.ccuytisrevinu@spohskroWtiripS or call 206-524-2322.
To add your voice to the calls for re-authorization
The camp suggests these talking points for keeping the camp in place:
- saves taxpayers money
- helps maintain key community partnerships that support the camp
- a move would disrupt the lives of the camp’s residents.
