“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.” ~ Maya Angelou
Fall Small Group Invitation: Join an InCourage Group
Living wisely and well outside of Eden has always required courage. Perhaps now more than ever, courage is needed to meet challenges to our environmental and national well-being, to people of color and marginalized groups, and to all who seek a more just and compassionate world. We add these to the ongoing human challenges of aging and grief, of relationships and intimacy, of economic change and uncertainty, of facing our own demons and working out our own growth and healing.
That’s why our Fall worship series will be centered on stories of courage. And that’s why this Fall you are invited to join an In-Courage small group October through mid-November.
Meeting weekly for six weeks, these groups of 6-8 are meant to grow our collective and individual embodiment of courage. Supported by the book Courageous Faith: How to Rise and Resist in a Time of Fear by UCC pastor Emily Heath, In-Courage groups are intended to build a faithful courage that uplifts our church and its members into attitudes and actions that bring healing and justice in our lives and the life of our community.
The six 90-minute sessions will be led by two leaders and offered at different times and in different places including an online group. Each In-Courage group member will be invited to identify their own internal step of growth and a correlate external action to accomplish with the support of the group.
To join a group and get your book, sign up in the Turner Commons after worship (Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29) or contact Pastor Todd by September 30 (gro.ccuytisrevinu@frodnedeimst or 206-524-2322 x3309). Books are also available in the Church Office during the week.
