“To practice any art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow. So do it.” Kurt Vonnegut
Is January kind of a let-down for you after the exuberance of Christmas? Well, be assured, at UCUCC the festivities continue. Friends of Liturgical Arts (FoLA) is an ever-growing group of church friends who support the ways in which art assumes an important role in our church by acknowledging its many aspects, forms and contributions. Have they got a month for us!
In the month of January, FoLA encourages all of us to make the practice or appreciation of art a part of our spiritual lives.
Through a series of before-church, informal workshops, members of the congregation will show different forms of art as they enjoy it, in hopes that you will be inspired to seek or practice art in your life.
The January red wall will be full of pictures celebrating the artistic efforts of the congregation.
And after a month of art-fulness, in February comes the FoLA ART PARTY to raise funds for the liturgical art endowment and celebrate and support the presence of art in all our lives. This will be a fun event to be held on Saturday afternoon, February 9, from 4-6. It’s a chance to see the artistic talents of your friends who have been kind enough to share them with us. In addition, to help support the liturgical arts that so enrich our services, there will be an auction of lovely objects donated by the congregation.
