Food Packing Update
For many years now, UCUCC families have come together once a month to bag food for the Emergency Feeding Program (EFP) where people experiencing food insecurity can access nutritious food for themselves and their families. This work is overseen by the Hunger Outreach Action Team, chaired by Lisa and Bart Klingler.
With the church building closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this monthly effort is temporarily on hold—unfortunately coinciding with an increased need due the economic impacts of the pandemic. The Klinglers and action team proposed that the Love and Justice Ministry approve the funds typically spent on the food we pack be given directly to the Emergency Feeding Program. This program can then fill the gap caused by the absence of food bags from us.
It is anticipated that this arrangement will continue until we are once again able to gather families for our traditional food packing activity. When this resumes, please consider helping out. It’s a lot of fun and your efforts will be appreciated by those who need the food!
