No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here at University Congregational United Church of Christ. Young, old, sure of your path, or still searching --- we invite you to join us in imagining love and justice - as Jesus did - and acting to change the world. We strive to walk in the path of Jesus, and to offer an authentic welcome to everyone who walks through our door. We invite visitors to wear a name-tag from the pew register folder so we may more easily greet you by name.

Our worship service starts at 10 am and includes hymns, prayers, scripture reading and a sermon. It usually lasts about an hour and 15 minutes. More information here.

Children are an important part of our community, and are welcome for all or part or the service. You will be met at the door with a warm handshake and welcome, and our friendly greeters can help direct you and answer your questions.

Wear clothes that you are comfortable in and sit on the main floor or in the balcony - wherever you feel most at ease. We look forward to welcoming you.

Supporting our ministries through time, talent and treasure

There are many ways that each of us contributes our time and talents to the ministries of this church community in thanksgiving and response to the gifts that God has given us.

Our treasure—the financial resources that keep the lights on, the building open and the staff and clergy working from day to day—is also important. Because of the financial support of members and friends, the ministries and missions of this congregation are thriving! Thank you for considering financial support for the work of our church.

2018 Pledge Campaign

This year’s pledge campaign is called “500 years, 500 ways,” in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. The monies from this campaign fund over 80 percent of our annual budget. During this  pledge season, we are inviting you to think about — and share — all the different ways God is still speaking. Learn more about the campaign and make your pledge.

Giving Record

You can view your giving record on-line at any time through MyUCUCC, We also send a quarterly giving record to all those who pledge or give regularly. This provides a record of the gifts you have given, and it gives us a chance to say thank you!

Here are some of your options for giving:

Sunday Morning Offering in Worship

Each week we have an opportunity to give to the church’s ministry as a part of our worship, in thanksgiving and response to the gifts that God has given us. You can write a check to UCUCC and place it in the offering plate when it is passed. You can also contribute cash; if you enclose the cash in an envelope with your name on it, your gift will be noted in your giving record. The Sunday bulletin also includes a QR code that you can use to donate using your smartphone.

Offering Envelopes:  We will provide monthly or weekly giving envelopes for your convenience, if you would like them. Click here to request giving envelopes.

Every month the Love and Justice Ministry chooses an organization to be the beneficiary of a special offering. Learn more about special offerings in the What’s up now section.

On-line Giving

You can give on-line through our secure donation web site, operated by ACS Technologies, the provider of our church’s datatbase software.  Give on-line. You can also use the QR code in the Sunday bulletin to give using your smartphone.

Automatic Deductions

This is a reliable, safe way to conveniently put your stewardship plan into action. Because your gift is given consistently, there’s no need to play “catch-up” at year-end or worry about forgotten checkbooks or missed Sunday offerings. You can set up automatic deductions through the MyUCUCC portal. Click on the MyUCUCC button in the sidebar. Or call us at 206-524-2322 if you would like us to help you with this.

US Mail

We are also glad to accept checks by mail throughout the week. Just make the check payable to UCUCC and mail to the church at 4515 16th Ave NE, Seattle, WA  98105-4201.

Stock Donations

We are glad to accept donations of publicly-traded securities. Gifts of securities can sometimes provide donors a double tax benefit, whether sold at a gain or loss. It may be useful to keep the following in mind:

Stock losses: To make a gift of stock or mutual funds for which you have a loss, simply sell the securities first and then contribute the proceeds. In this way, you may be able to take a capital loss on your tax return and take a charitable deduction for your cash contribution to the church.

Stock gains: To make a gift of appreciated stock to UCUCC, transfer the stock to UCUCC (the church will then sell it).  You will pay no capital gains tax on the transfer, and may be able to take a charitable tax deduction for the value of your stock. Click here for information on How to Transfer Stock.

Planned Giving

Planned giving enables you to perpetuate your financial support for the church beyond your lifetimes. You can give a gift that keeps on giving long after you are gone. We are glad to talk further with you about how you can remember the church in ways that might help you now, and what to include in your will to accomplish what you want. Contact David Anderson to talk further.

Other Gifts

We are glad to work with you to identify other kinds of gifts that you may want to make. Please contact David Anderson to talk about your specific situation. Click here for a copy of the church’s Gift Acceptance Policy, which may help guide you in your thinking.
