Generous giving and some belt-tightening lead to a 2019 budget for UCUCC Ministry and Mission
A deep thank you to UCUCC members and friends who pledged to our 2019 ministry, and to those who responded to our second ask and increased their pledge! We are grateful and inspired by the faith and commitment shown.
On January 16, the council approved a final 2019 budget — celebrating the increases in pledges, incorporating an increase in projected facility use for 2019, and finalizing some earlier estimates for the personnel budget. We were aiming for total pledges of $1,200,000. We have actually received pledge commitments of $1,170,104. In line with the November congregational vote, the budget is balanced with some reductions from Love and Justice, Personnel, Stewardship and Finance Administration, and Facilities and Equipment budgets.
The personnel budget leaves intact the hoped-for Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) of 2.5% for non-leadership staff, a COLA of 1.5% for leadership staff, a nursery position, and health insurance adjustments. The Administration and Facilities budgets will call for some additional tightening. The Love and Justice reductions from their 2018 budget will require adjustments to grants they make to outside agencies. None of these will be easy decisions, yet in the midst of those realities our gratitude remains strong for all the gifts and opportunities we have been given.
Thank you for your support, your faithfulness, your generosity, and your partnership. We are deeply blessed.
