Followers on the Way
April 19 – May 24, 2020
That the church exists at all is a testament to the response of those nearest the Jesus event, literally and spiritually. They were moved. The Jesus event became a move-ment, a network of people and communities moved in their inner lives and moved in their outward expression of life to something new. Known as Followers of the Way, that new Way moved them to sharing possessions and resources, offering prayer and healing to all, gathering for community meals, proclaiming and learning the teaching of Jesus, caring for those in need, and participating in rituals of praise and renewal.
Following the lead of the early church, the focus for us in this time after Easter is on responding, on our move-ments, inward and outward, that keep us moving on the Way of Love that Jesus taught and lived. We follow the lead of the early church in its basic movements: praising, sharing, inviting, feeding, gathering, and reaching out.
