On February 17, after worship, Ostrander Hall was transformed into an eclectic art emporium — an ART party. There were goodies to eat, people to see and all kinds of art to admire and inspire.
People donated and displayed over 100 art creations ranging from pictures, wall hangings, photographs, drawings, illustrations, quilted pieces as well as quilts themselves, to pickles and other preserved comestibles, and even a linoleum rug.
Thank you to all the donors, volunteers, office and facilities staff, and to all who purchased a piece of art or made a donation at the party.
Together we raised over $3850 to support Liturgical Arts at UCUCC.
The party was the culmination of a month-long celebration. Dreamed up by members of a Fireside group, Betty Spieth-Croll, Roberta Hollowell, Mary Paananen and Nancy Wiesner, the Let’s ART! activities have illustrated the lively connection between art and spirituality at UCUCC.
Throughout the month of January, there were Sunday morning workshops in a variety of artistic endeavors ranging from Sashiko embroidery to reading with spiritual meaning to illustrated cards to making protest buttons.
The artistic spirit that defines so much of who we are and what we do was on full display.
